Viewing Album: Bear Mountain Bridge
By:
Bob Krug
Dates:
11/20/2017 - 11/20/2017
Album Info:
I combined hiking and railfanning in Bear Mountain State Park. I parked the car near the old dayliner wharf on the west shore then hiked across the river on the Bear Mt. Bridge then up to the top of Anthony's Nose; a summit on the east shore of the river that offers great views of the river and CSX's River Line on the west shore of the Hudson. I was resolved to get a photo of a train on the River Line and I ended up waiting two and a half hours on a windy summit before a northbound auto rack train rolled by. After that I set up at the north end of the Doodletown trestle and caught another northbound train in favorable afternoon light.
